Understanding and Handling Lead Changes
The more novice the dog is, the more help she will need from the handler to perform correct lead changes. The more experienced the dog is, the more the handler can rely on the dog to work out the lead changes independently. If the handler can tell the dog about the lead changes more clearly, it is easier for the dog to manage the course. In this seminar, Megan will explain how dogs choose their leading leg, and how handlers can cue and support their dog in making the necessary lead changes on an agility course. Exercises will include a variety of obstacles, but sequences will be appropriate for teams competing at any level.
