Private consultations address the “why” of your predicament and a “how to modify” guide for behavior problems. We’ll discuss your dog’s history, try to observe the problem behavior, explain how to modify it, and then demonstrate the applicable techniques.
We have a variety of one-on-one services to meet your needs.
Behavior Consultations
(in person at our Novato campus or virtual)
- $150 for a 75-minute consultation
- $100 for a 60-minute virtual consultation
Marin Humane adoptees receive a complimentary (free) behavior consultation within the first 6 months of their adoption date.
Private Lessons at Marin Humane
A behavioral consultation is a required pre-requisite and your consultant will work with you to ascertain which package is most appropriate.
- Training Package $250 (three 45-minute sessions)
- Behavior Modification Package $500 (six 30-minute sessions)
- Agility Private Lessons are not currently available
Custom In-home Private Lessons (Marin County only)
All in-home training is dependent on your consultant's schedule and location. A behavioral consultation is a required pre-requisite and your consultant will work with you to ascertain which package is most appropriate.
- Training Package $325 plus travel (three 45-minute sessions)
- Behavior Modification Package $650 plus travel (six 30-minute sessions)
Travel charges apply for all in-home training. Fees are $50 per half hour of travel time, calculated prior to booking. Kindly email ohbehave@marinhumane.org for assistance with this custom service.
911 - Dog Behavior Consultation

held at Marin Humane is $150 and includes a write-up of behavior modification suggestions.

NOTE: If your dog has bitten and broken human skin, please sign up for a behavior consultation that is at least ten day post bite.

911 - Marin Humane Adoption Virtual Consultation
These appointments are for Marin Humane or Hopalong Adoption Dogs, adopted within the last six months, to receive a complimentary 45-minute consultation. Initial consultations are done via Zoom or phone call. You must register in our system to receive your complimentary consultation. Choose a date and time below and follow the instructions to register for this service. After you sign up, you will receive a confirmation email and your Behavior Consultant will reach out to you with a Zoom link for your appointment. If you prefer a phone call respond to their email and state your preference. When you add your pet to the system, indicate MH Adoptee and the charge will be removed before checking out. 911 - Reactive Dog Behavior Consultation Package
Would you like to be able to walk your dog without the stress associated with barking and lunging at other dogs? If so, your journey begins here. Managing and working with reactivity requires a solid understanding of the underlying causes of the behavior. The Reactive Dog behavior consultation series helps you discover the basis for reactivity in your dog. Furthermore, it provides an appropriate environment where you can practice learned exercises in a safe and supportive environment.
The Reactive Dog Behavior Consultation services are held at the Marin Humane Novato campus. Included:
- A review of your dog's history
- 75-minute evaluation and consultation
- Behavior modification plan with core skills to practice
- Two 45-minute private training lessons
- Final assessment to ascertain the best “next steps” for you and your dog
The customized final assessment addresses the best path forward, be it Drive In Growlers (DIG) class, additional private training sessions or another group training class. We’ve got your back!
