* Increasing enthusiasm in the search
* Performance review and discussion
Seminar Overview:
This is a working seminar that utilizes hands-on exercises with the dogs along with group discussion and search analysis. In addition to working spots, there is an excellent opportunity for observational learning through available auditing positions. This seminar can accommodate teams training and trialing at different levels. We will utilize a variety of exercises across different elements to maintain quality and consistency throughout the team’s changing search environments. This will be most relevant to those moving into the NW3 level or equivalent.Teamwork is built over time and requires commitment. Each member of the team (dog and handler) must know their role and how to best apply their individual skills to the search.
Summary:
This practical workshop will focus on elevating the handler’s current skills by incorporating exercises to
increase performance confidence, both in training and trial settings.
Exercises will be geared for dogs from Summit to NW1. Dogs must be on all 3 odors (Birch, Anise and Clove) by the time of the event and should have a foundation of independent searching and problem solving. Handlers should have rudimentary understanding of their dog’s natural communication. Auditors from all levels are welcome. This is a 2-day seminar and $400 for the working spots. Audit spots are registered at $100 per day. (see audit registration items).
