Description:

Balancing Obstacle & Handler Focus

From the time we bring them home, we teach our puppies about focusing on us and giving us their undivided attention during training. Then, during obstacle training, we need our dogs to ignore our physical cues so that they complete the obstacles independently. How do we explain this balance to our four-legged teammate? In this seminar, students will learn how to use placement of reward to improve their dog’s obstacle-handler focus balance and help explain to their dog when the handler’s movements are and are not relevant. Exercises are appropriate for any age or experience level and will include flat work, jumps (bars at appropriate height), and tunnels only.
